Plantbody Moving
Growing like moss on your partners shoulder, anchoring through your taproot to steady a lift, connecting through the vast underground net of root systems to the other dancers in space, explore the turgidity of your touch, the resilience of a switch, the terrain of bark of your skin or the sweet sugar storing in your roots. Dance with the limbs of your branches, the sturdiness of your trunk and the support of rising sap.
Christine Cole has been dancing and teaching Contact since 1983. Currently in Western Mass, close to the Contact Hub: Earthdance, she dances, teaches and has a private practice in Body-Mind Centering. As a teacher and explorer of human evolution of movement, she has long been intrigued with the special relation ship humans have with trees and plants. In 2011 she began to study and explore the continuity/ discontinuity of plant (cells) to human (cells) in contact warm-ups and classes with striking response in the quality of focus, freedom and connection of the dances.
Her dancing/teaching style has been described as: sacred irreverence; her deep knowledge of the body informs dancers bodies, so they can follow their own wild or tender inspirations.
I am really looking forward to bringing this work to Lasqueti Island, where we can seamlessly be in nature!
